Nothing Compares 2 U was available as a promotional single only in the USA (with no commercial release), and was taken from Prince’s first compilation albums The Hits 1 and The Hits 2, taken specifically from The Hits 1 (also included as the first disc of The Hits / The B-Sides).
It was available two months after the album in the USA only (on the same day as Peach). The promo contained only an edit of the track and the full album version.
The single reached number 62 on the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles Chart.
A single of Prince’s original studio version of the song was released posthumously in 2018, with different artwork. This single receives a separate single page on our site here.
