The Same December is the fourth track on Prince’s 18th album Chaos And Disorder, the second album credited to  .
While exact recording dates are not known, it is likely that basic tracking took place in late 1994, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. A video for the track was shown regularly before The Ultimate Live Experience shows in March 1995 (see The Same December for details).
Before being placed on Chaos And Disorder, the track was slated as the ninth track on the 1995 New World album project, a precursor to what became the album Emancipation. But because it was released before New World evolved into Emancipation never considered for the latter.
