Heaven Must Be Near is a video by Ingrid Chavez directed by Craig Rice and edited by Prince. This $30,000 video was shot in October 1989 and remained in the vault for over 20 months until Chavez’s album was finalized. The video was premiered at the Glam Slam at some point in 1991. Heaven Must Be Near was planned to be the first single from Chavez’s album in Summer 1991, but was replaced by Elephant Box. The video had been sent to a few music channels for broadcast before the change of plan and Heaven Must Be Near received very limited airplay before the cancelation of the single. The song was still released as a promotional single in Spring 1992.
In this video, Ingrid Chavez is wandering in various places in Minnesota including the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska and the Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis.
