When 2 R In Love is the seventh song on Prince’s tenth album Lovesexy. In 1989, the track was included as the b-side of the single Scandalous!, the fourth single from Prince’s eleventh album Batman. In 1994, the track was included as the fourth track on Prince’s sixteenth album “The Black Album”, since this album was planned for release in late 1987, before it was canceled and Prince went on to develop Lovesexy.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in early October 1987 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, MN as the final track recorded for “The Black Album” (during the same set of sessions that produced U and Take This Beat).
In 2000, When 2 R In Love was planned for inclusion on When 2 R In Love: The Ballads Of Prince (likely in re-recorded form, although it is possible this was planned but not executed). The album did not receive many votes by visitors at Prince: A Celebration, however, and was ultimately abandoned.
