Your Show is the 11th track (tenth song) on Liv Warfield’s second album, The Unexpected, and was co-written by Warfield and Prince.
Basic tracking dates are not known, but the track is believed to have been recorded in 2013, most likely at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. In February 2016, Your Show was available as Tidal’s Purple Pick of the Week along with this explanation from "NPG Records" of the track’s origins:
LIV WARFIELD ASKED PRINCE 4 A BLAXPLOITATION SOUNDTRACK FEATURING A REAL ORCHESTRA SIMILAR 2 THE MUSIC SHE GREW UP WITH IN PEORIA, ILLINOIS. SO HE GOT SOME OF HIS FAVORITE STUDIO MUSICIANS 2GETHER AND RECORDED THIS “UNEXPECTED ENDING.”
Strangely, all digital releases of the album, including the pre-release album stream, include the full-length 7:11 version of the song, while CD versions of the album contain a 5:34 edit of the track instead. No reason is known for this change.
The lyrics contain a slight reference to the 1973 Blaxploitation film Cleopatra Jones.
