Scandalous! was the fourth single to be released from Prince’s eleventh album Batman. It was released five and a half months after the album, and received a release in the USA, Germany, Australia and Japan, continuing the commercial tie-in with the Batman movie. While the title track on the both the Batman album and on the maxi-single was titled Scandalous, an additional exclamation mark was added to the track’s title and the single title, resulting in the title Scandalous! Unlike its predecessors from the album, the single artwork did not feature the Batman logo, instead using a still from the Scandalous! video. The b-side of the single, When 2 R In Love, was taken from Prince’s tenth album Lovesexy. A maxi-single, using the title The Scandalous Sex Suite was released shortly after the single, containing a three-part 19-minute suite of the song Scandalous (with the three parts named The Crime, The Passion and The Rapture), as well as a non-album track, Sex.
