Musicology was the first commercially-available single to be released from the album Musicology, released two weeks after the album's retail release. Four weeks before the physical release, however, Magnificent was released on the NPG Music Club Musicology Download Store as a "virtual b-side" to Musicology, although Musicology itself was not available as an individual download. The b-side on the physical release, On The Couch, was also taken from the album Musicology. Charts The single failed to chart in the Billboard Hot 100, only reaching number 120 on the US Billboard Bubbling Under The Hot 100. It fared better in the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Chart, where it reached number 44. The single failed to chart in the UK, but reached top 20 positions in Norway and Italy.
