The track was written by Monie Love, Prince & Levi Seacer, Jr., and was recorded largely by Prince.

While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place in January, 1992 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (during the same set of sessions that produced The Continental, Damn U, The Flow, 3 Chains O' Gold, Qualified, With This Tear and a revamped version of Sex).
