Qualified is the second track on Loïs Lane’s third album Precious (first track on the 1993 US re-issue), and, three weeks before the album’s release, Qualified was released as the album’s first single, containing several remixes of the track. Qualified was written and produced by Prince and Kirk Johnson. While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in early 1992 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions that produced The Continental, Damn U, The Flow, Born 2 B.R.E.E.D., With This Tear and a revamped version of Sex). In 2021, Loïs Lane re-recorded the track with a different backing music. This version, titled Qualified (lo-fi) was released on digital platforms only.
