The Screams Of Passion was the first single to be released from The Family’s first and only album The Family, released four weeks before the album, marking the first release of any kind by The Family, and the first Prince-related release to feature stings by the Clare Fischer orchestra. The single contained an edit and an extended version of the track. The b-side, Yes, was also taken from the album The Family. It was released in North America, the UK and Europe.
The single reached number 63 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, number 9 on the Billboard Black Chart and number 10 in the Billboard Hot Dance/Disco - Club Play chart.
