Black Archives: Minneapolis Funk is a compilation released in France by Warner Records centred around the Minneapolis music scene. The compilation contains previously released songs by Prince and various artists, most of them directly related to him.
Two songs written or co-written by Prince included in edited versions (simple fades) on this compilation were unique to this release and were not available elsewhere :
Three others songs were also written/co-written by Prince: The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker, A Love Bizarre and a remix of Round And Round. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ work is represented with three other songs including Morris Day’s Fishnet written with him for his second solo album Daydreaming released in 1987.

Black Archives: Minneapolis Funk was released around the same time as other funk compilations by Warner Records centred around other cities (New York, Los Angeles, Memphis, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago). This compilation did not chart.
