In A Word Or 2 is the second studio album by British rapper Monie Love, and was released in March 1993.
The album contained two tracks co-written, recorded and produced by Prince, titled Born 2 B.R.E.E.D. and In A Word Or 2.
Sessions and compiling
Prince approached Monie Love in 1992 as he wanted her to write lyrics for Carmen Electra’s album he was working on. In exchange, he would offer her some songs for her second album.
In a 2019 interview, Monie Love discussed the songs recording:
"The second album was when I actually got to work with Prince. I was on Warner Bros., and so was he at the time. The exchange was he wanted me to write raps for Carmen Electra, who was his protégé. I would write her album, and he would produce about three or four songs for my album. An even exchange, [plus I would] get a little dough for it"
In return of Born 2 B.R.E.E.D. (co-written with Levi Seacer, Jr.) and In A Word Or 2 for her own album, Monie Love co-wrote Step To The Mic and Everybody Get On Up for Carmen Electra. She also added backing vocals and Go Go Dancer and appeared on the video of the song.
Promotion
The album produced four singles, Full Term Love, Born 2 B.R.E.E.D., In A Word Or 2 and Never Give Up On A Good Thing. It reached number 75 on the US Billboard R&B Chart.
