(Book)
Indigo Nights is the fourth live album by Prince. It is available for purchase only with the 21 Nights book, released worldwide in September 2008 (on the same day as Bria Valente’s debut single Another Boy), and the album does not contain its own packaging or cover art.

The CD is a document of Prince’s aftershow concerts and includes tracks from two aftershows, 17 September 2007 (am) and 22 September 2007 (am).

The album did not produce any singles, and was not eligible for album charts, although the book reached number 9 on the US New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction list, most likely due to the inclusion of the album.

Unlike previous live albums, Indigo Nights contains a number of cover versions and interpolations of other artists music. Rock Steady, Whole Lotta Love, Misty Blue and Baby Love are cover versions, while Beggin’ Woman Blues is essentially a medley of the track Beggin’ Woman, by Cousin Joe (from the 1947 single Beggin’ Woman) with Three Handed Woman, by Louis Jordan& His Tympany Five (from the 1950 single Three Handed Woman), with some additional lyrics by Prince.

3121 also contains brief horn renditions of The Entertainer (Scott Joplin’s 1902 composition), Alexander’s Ragtime Band (Irving Berlin’s 1911 composition), Music! Music! Music! (by Bernie Baum and Stephan Weiss, from Teresa Brewer’s 1949 single Music! Music! Music!), and Prince’s own D.M.S.R. (from 1999).

On 10 April 2009, the website www.princeopus.com opened, announcing Prince Opus, a revised, high-end version of the 21 Nights book, including a customized Prince iPod pre-loaded with the Album: Indigo Nights album and a 40-minute documentary video. A release date was not available, and it is not certain if the product was released or not.
