Mazarati is the first studio album by Mazarati (their only album on Paisley Park Records), and was released in March 1986.
One of the tracks, 100 MPH was written and recorded by Prince. He also re-wrote Brown Mark's lyrics for two other songs, Strawberry Lover and I Guess It's All Over. The rest of the songs were written solely by Brown Mark with no input by Prince.
Recording process
During the making of the album, Prince had contributed two additional songs, Kiss and Jerk Out. Kiss had been recorded by Prince as a brief acoustic guitar demo, and after hearing Mazarati's take on the song, he reclaimed it for use on Parade (complete with their instrumentation and background vocals).
Jerk Out was rejected by Mazarati (but was later released by The Time in 1990).
Another track considered for Mazarati, an instrumental named Mazarati, later renamed Susannah's Pajamas, was released by The Family in 1985.
Promotion
The album produced three singles, Player's Ball, 100 MPH and Stroke, but the album reached only number 133 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums Chart and 49 on the Billboard Top Black Albums Chart.
