The Lover In Me is the ninth full-length studio album by Scottish singer Sheena Easton. The album contained the tracks 101 and Cool Love, written and produced by Prince, with writing credited under the pseudonym Joey Coco.
Recording process
Sheena Easton had asked Prince to produce the whole album, but he declined since he would not have time and instead offered her 101 and Cool Love. 101 was recorded in early January 1987. Cool Love followed the next year, in May 1988. Both tracks featured Prince on all instruments, with Sheena Easton providing vocals. The track Jaguar was also recorded for the album, in mid-January 1987, but Prince retained the song and later gave it to Mavis Staples for her album Time Waits For No One, released in 1989.
Promotion
The album produced five singles, The Lover In Me, Days Like This, 101, No Deposit, No Return and Follow My Rainbow (released in Germany only).
It reached number 44 on the US Billboard Pop Chart, and number 29 on the Billboard R&B Chart.
