- First appeared on: The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Karl Bohm 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
- Also known as: Thus Spoke Zarathustra; commonly referred to as 2001 due to its use in and heavy association with Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey; Symphonic poem (1896). In 1973 Brazilian artist Eumir Deodato: released a jazz-funk version of the song (as: Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)) on his 1973 album Prelude. It’s likely that the song That’ll Work (2001) where the 2001 part made its first interpolated appearance in Prince’s shows referred to that version rather than the original composition as it appeared on the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack in 1968.
