Into The Light is the eighth track on Prince’s 18th album Chaos And Disorder, the second album credited to .
While exact recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in February 1996, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions as I Will, which may have been recorded in sequence in one session, although this is unconfirmed). Shortly before its inclusion on Chaos And Disorder, Into The Light was placed as the first track of the third disc (twenty-third song) on a March/April 1996 configuration of Emancipation (followed by Dig U Better Dead and not I Will which was placed on the second disc).
The song was directly influenced by Betty Eadie’s 1992 book Embraced By The Light, describing her near death experience lasting several hours.
