The Morning Papers is a Prince and the New Power Generation video released for broadcast and to promote the single.

It was first aired as part of the Act I TV-special five months before the release of the single in the USA. The Morning Papers, directed by Randee St. Nicholas, is a performance video of Prince and The NPG shot at Paisley Park Studios Chanhassen, Minnesota, presumably in Fall 1992 (around the same time as the video for Damn U). Some 30 uncredited extra’s also appear as an audience. The performance is interspersed with footage of Prince and Mayte on a merry-go-round, in a field and on a rooftop and falling in love.

Of note, in this video Tony M. is playing guitar, Kirky J. is on percussion and Levi Seacer, Jr. is on guitar and keyboard. Although barely noticeable, Morris Hayes can also be seen playing keyboard, marking his first appearance in a Prince video.

The Morning Papers was included on the 3 Chains O’ Gold home video.
