Endorphinmachine is the second track on Prince’s 17th album The Gold Experience, the first to be credited to , and, shortly before the album’s release, Endorphinmachine was available as a promo single, released only in Japan.

The track was also included as a b-side on the Japanese version of the Hate U single.

When the album was released, many fans expressed frustration that there were significant overdubs, erasing the 'raw' feeling of the original (Endorphinmachine has become a common reference point for fans hearing new material live before hearing a studio version - songs such as Zannalee and Fury were also overdubbed in their released studio versions).
