Go On (Witcha Bad Self) is the third track on Carmen Electra’s only album Carmen Electra. In 2001, a remix of the track was also included as part of NPG Ahdio Show # 1 (but not available separately from the whole show). The track was written by Tony M. and Levi Seacer, Jr., and produced by Prince (although no producer credit was given, other than Paisley Park as executive producer). It is possible Prince also contributed to writing the track, but this has not been confirmed.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in early 1991 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions as Spirit, Don’t Say U Love Me and Open Book). It is not known if the song was intended for Martika, however. A re-recording (or possibly only vocal overbubs) for Carmen Electra’s album took place between Spring 1991 and early 1992 (likely at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was included as the fourth track on a 2 April 1992 configuration of Carmen Electra’s debut album, then titled On Top (with the artist credit "Carmen") and as the third track on a 15 June 1992 configuration of the album, where it remained for release.
The released version contains a sampled chant from Say It Loud - I’m Black And I’m Proud by James Brown (released as a single in 1968, and included on the albums A Soulful Christmas in 1968 and Say It Loud - I’m Black And I’m Proud in 1969), and an additional sample of Land Of 1,000 Dances, written by Chris Kenner, as performed by Wilson Pickett (from the 1966 album The Exciting Wilson Pickett, also released as a single).
