In A Word Or 2 is the third track on Monie Love’s second album In A Word Or 2 (ninth track on the US edition), and, the month after the album’s release, In A Word Or 2 was released as the album’s third single. The track was written by Monie Love and Prince, and was recorded largely by Prince.

While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that basic tracking took place in January 1992 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions that produced Born 2 B.R.E.E.D., The Continental, Damn U, The Flow, 3 Chains O’ Gold, Qualified, With This Tear and a revamped version of Sex).
