Pearls B4 The Swine is the eighth track on Prince’s 25th album One Nite Alone..., but eight months before the album’s release, the track was included in NPG Ahdio Show 8, a special show posted in response to the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks in the USA.
Specific recording dates are unknown, but it is believed that basic tracking took place in Spring 2001 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (along with the rest of the One Nite Alone... album), during the mastering of The Rainbow Children album. It is possible that the track was recorded in mid-September 2001, following the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks, but this is unverified.
The title is a Biblical reference, taken from Matthew 7:6.
