Raspberry Beret is the fourth track on Prince's seventh album Around The World In A Day, the second to be credited to Prince and the Revolution, and, three months after the album's release, Raspberry Beret was released as the album's first single in North America and Japan (it was later released as the album's second single in the UK, Europe and Australia, following their release of Paisley Park).

In 1993, it was included as the ninth track on Prince's second compilation album The Hits 2 (also included as the second disc of The Hits / The B-Sides).

In 2002, a live version was included as the third track on the second disc of Prince's first live album One Nite Alone... Live! (along with Xenophobia, Extraordinary, Avalanche, Family Name, The Everlasting Now, EyeBlue.png Wanna B Ur Lover, Diamonds & Pearls, The Beautiful Ones, Nothing Compares 2 U and How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore from the same show).

The track was originally recorded in Prince's home studio, Kiowa Trail Home Studio, in Spring/Summer, 1982. Basic tracks for the album version were recorded in August 1984 at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse, Eden Prairie, MN, USA.
