Kiss is the tenth track on Prince’s eighth album Parade, the third to be credited to Prince and the Revolution, and, seven weeks before the album’s release, Kiss was released as the album’s first single worldwide. The single version contained a fade-out which was edited off the album version (to allow the song to segue directly into Anotherloverholenyohead). The song also featured in the movie Under The Cherry Moon.

In 1993, the single version was included as the eleventh track on The Hits 2 (also included as the second disc of The Hits / The B-Sides).

In 2001, the single version was included as the ninth track on The Very Best Of Prince.

In 2006, the extended version was included as the seventh track on the second disc of Ultimate.

Basic tracking took place on 28 April 1985 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (four days after Holly Rock, the same day as All My Dreams).
