On both the Youtube and Vevo platforms are official Prince channels, streaming Mostly Warner Bros era Prince videos. Vevo originally had the premiere of the 3rdEyeGirl Fixurlifeup video in May 2013 and in October of that year the video for Breakfast Can Wait, but they were since taken down.
The You Tube channel started off with a short lived attempt in 2014 when on 6 March 2014, a link to the full episode of the Arsenio Hall show Prince had just appeared on was posted. This was the only video on the channel for two weeks until it was taken down on 19 March 2014, leaving the channel void of content.
In July 2017 both the YouTube channel and a renewed on on Vevo started posting classic Prince videos on a weekly basis, seemingly taken over by Warner Bros..
Initially seemingly in an attempt to promote the newly released Purple Rain Deluxe album, videos of four Purple Rain songs were posted, with Purple Rain itself oddly omitted, but both a short and long version of When Doves Cry.
The following weeks more classic Prince videos from 1979-1983 appeared, including ones never available to the public in any form before, other than their airing on television.
All of them initially had a small, non intrusive pop up advertising the Purple Rain Deluxe album, but this was changed after a few weeks to a general pop-up back to the Prince videos channel when videos from 1985 onward were also released, mostly in more or less chronological order of release by year, each Thursday on Vevo and Friday on YouTube.
There are minor differences in the content posted to both channels Videos on the Vevo channel feature the WB logo in the lower left corner, while the videos on YouTube do not. The videos on Vevo are generally also in a higher resolution than on the YouTube Channel. There are also minor differences in uploaded content and the date on which new uploads occur happens.
